Lalafofofo - Girls Scholarship Program
The organization Lalafofofo and the Girls Scholarship Program support Maasai girls who live in the Mlima Shabaha community in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania.

I chose the charity Lalafofofo because I wanted to support underprivileged girls. The founder is a friend of ours. Having followed her organization's work for a few years, I am convinced that they are doing wonderful work.
Vision Statement of Lalafofofo:
"Empower Maasai girls through education and sisterhood to help them rise out of poverty and become role models and leaders so that they can uproot child marriage traditions and instill new ideas of gender equality for themselves and other girls in their community."
Theory of Change:
"Lalafofofo believes that access to education is the key to improving the lives of Maasai girls who are living in extreme poverty and are at risk of child marriage. By focusing on the specific community of Mlima Shabaha in Kilimanjaro, we are able to have a significant impact on hundreds of Tanzanians’ lives."
Specific Goals:
"1. Reduce the prevalence rate of child marriage in girls 8-14 years old attending government primary school in the Mlima Shabaha village, Hai District, Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania.
2. Provide at-risk child brides with a safe group home and scholarship program to fund their education through secondary school and vocational school or university.
3. Equip the GSP scholars with knowledge and skills to obtain gainful employment and financial security through summer leadership camps and vocational training programs."
